T. S. ALLAN

I strive to write stories that matter—stories of the past that raise issues which are relevant today, and show readers the value of love and trust. I want readers to see relevant issues from a different perspective. I hope readers will enjoy, laugh, cry, and be inspired by reading my stories.

The inspiration for my stories comes from three primary sources. First, and most important, is what my late Danish wife taught me about the importance of living a hyggelig life. Second, is my experience as a Marine in the Vietnam War, and my other diverse work on four continents. That includes ordering Marines to risk their lives, cross-examining witnesses when my clients’ freedom was at stake, stopping mounted horses from stampeding through a crowd, organizing international basketball and football matches, bidding to develop safe Olympic venues, and negotiating complex contracts to transform a former shipyard into a new part of a city. Third, are the values my parents taught me: being tolerant and respectful of persons with different culture, race, or religions. Those global experiences and values have given me a unique perspective of the similarity and diversity of human behavior and motivation. I draw on that perspective to write stories that matter.
